Getting catchy phrases or your beloved’s name inked on your body, seems to be passe. An increasingly popular tattoo design, doing the rounds, is the cover of Amish Tripathi’s bestseller, The Immortals of Meluha.

While there has been a lot of hype about Tripathi’s Shiva Trilogy, with more than a million copies of the first book being sold for R22 crores, and filmmaker Karan Johar buying the book’s movie rights, getting a book’s cover inked is certainly unprecedented.

“I loved the book so much that I decided to have a tattoo of the book’s cover itself,” says Ganesh Kambli, an avid fan of the series. Vikram, another reader, has got the Indus Valley script representation of the Word ‘Shiva’, from the book, inked on his arm. “I’ve tattooed the signs on my arm as I worship Mahadev,” says Vikram.

And the fanfare is on a high, now that the third book of the trilogy, releases on February 26. The author himself however says, “This reflects passion for Lord Shiva and not necessarily for the books.”
