On the penultimate day of the campaign, Sukhbir addressed a number of rallies in favour of party candidate Joginder Pal Jain. The beleaguered Congress had stooped to ordering its legislators in the non-Congress states to not let the respective governments do any development work in their areas, said the SAD president. Its plan was to turn the non-development of those areas into future negative election campaigns, he added.
“The Congressmen trying to get out of this muck were joining pro-development parties all over the country, which shows they are not turncoats but real patriots," Sukhbir said. "It was the outcome of the nationwide movement that six more top Congress leaders in the state are ready to join the SAD. It's the Congress that has not only betrayed the country and the states but also own members in the past 64 years.”
