The mystery over the murder of a six-year-old boy on Tuesday in north-east Delhi has deepened with the child’s father now accusing his brother Ravindra of killing his son over some family dispute. The body of the minor boy, Prince Solanki alias Sonu, was found with his throat slit on Tuesday morning on the stairs of his house in Maujpur. His uncle Ravindra Solanki was the first person to discover the body and call the police. He had told the police that the boy’s father Yogendra had murdered his own son.

Both Yogendra and Ravindra are in police custody for questioning and even 24 hours after the murder, the police are groping in dark about the motive.Though they have not ruled out the involvement of someone from the victim’s family, the police are probing other possible motives such as black magic and property dispute. The police also yet to recover the murder weapon.

“Initially, the focus of our investigation was on the involvement of the victim’s father as he was in an inebriated condition when we found him sleeping in his room. The father refuted the allegation and even we weren’t sure of his involvement because he was dead drunk,” said an investigator.

But on Wednesday, the investigation took another turn when Yogendra told the police that he suspected his brother Ravindra and his family’s involvement behind the murder of his son. He accused his brother of killing his son over a family dispute.

“We are verifying the allegations and the counter-allegations while waiting for the victim’s autopsy report,” he added.
