“Salman and Soorajji have discussed the script, but it’s next to impossible that he can take out time for it in 2013. In fact, he is yet to start shooting for Sohail Khan’s Mental, which will be his first release this year,” says a trade insider. Mental’s first schedule begins in Dubai this week.
Barjatya, despite repeated attempts, remained unavailable for a comment. However, the filmmaker has always maintained that he is ready to wait for Salman. Last year, he stated in an interview: “It is too early to say (anything about the film), but it is my dream to make a film with him again.” This year, apart from Mental, Salman is slated to start work on Sajid Nadiadwala’s Kick. “After that, he will start work on No Entry Mein Entry (sequel to the 2005 hit) and Prabhudheva’s next. With so many films in his plate, besides his court dates and medical check-ups in the US, it’s unlikely that Soorajji’s film will begin this year,” adds the insider.
Not many details are known yet, but Barjatya’s film is believed to be another family drama, which will revolve around the relationships between two brothers. Rumours suggest that Salman will play the title role while a younger star will play the brother’s role. For some time, Arjun Kapoor’s name was doing the rounds as the possible choice to play Salman’s younger sibling. But no one has gone on record about it as yet.
