Talking to HT, Amritsar police commissioner Ram Singh, said, “Definitely security has been heightened and checking was done at the key locations in the city.”
Security in the city had already been stepped up in the wake of British Prime Minister David Cameron's recent visit and now, and now the police have sounded an alert.
A police official said that a close eye was being kept at all key tourist locations and 'nakas' would be put in place to check vehicles, especially those coming from outside the state.
