He was a native of Tamil Nadu.
According to sources in the parking, Karthikey was rectifying a defect in one of the trolleys which delivers a car to a parking area during a power cut. When the power was restored, the trolley began moving on its own and he got crushed between a sidewall.
The parking built and managed by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) was opened to the public on May 30, 2012. It can accommodate 1,467 cars at six different underground levels
Sources in AIIMS trauma centre said Karthikey was admitted in a critical condition after being referred from Moolchand hospital, “He had serious head injuries, fractured pelvic and his intestine was ruptured. There was also severe internal bleeding. He was directly taken to the operation theatre were a surgery was performed. He stayed in a critical condition for two weeks and was being infused blood regularly. But he succumbed to his injuries on February 20”.
Delhi High Court’s Registrar (administration) SK Sharma refused to elaborate on the accident saying there was “no official communication” from the DMRC. “We only know that someone was injured a few days back and was taken to the hospital. We knew about the death only from the media. There is no official communication The subsequent action and compensation, everything is the responsibility of the DMRC”, he said.
When contacted a DMRC spokesman said: “The high court parking is being run by a contractor. However, DMRC being the principal employer will take all necessary action as per its rules and regulation.
