A bus conductor was allegedly beaten up by two Akali workers on Saturday, after he had an argument with them and others over bus parking 2-3 days ago.
The two accused, Kulwant Singh and Raminder Singh, reportedly evicted the conductor, Gambhowal resident Jagtar Singh, from the bus, bundled him up in their vehicle and thrashed him brutally. He was then thrown out of the car. He was rescued when a passerby alerted the police and was admitted to the civil hospital.

A case against the two under Sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 342 (wrongful confinement) and 367 (kidnapping or abduction with intent for grievous hurt) and 34 (acts done by several persons with common intention).

Earlier in the day, there were murmurs in some sections of the press that the son of a local senior SAD leader was also among the assailants. However, the victim's father, Palwinder Singh, told the police that this was not the case.
