The dismantling contract of the unsafe building of the local Government Senior Secondary School fetched Rs. 4.15 lakh for the local administration on Saturday. Principal Rupinder Kumari said that a auction was held on the direction from the school education department in which 64 parties participated.

PWD sub-divisional officer had declared the building to be unsafe in 2010 and had submitted a report to the deputy commissioner. Portions of the building had cracked and pillars had penetrated many inches into the ground.

Deputy district education officer and Nurmahal naib tehsildar supervised the auction. A company from Amloh was successful bidder and will complete the dismantling work in three months. The principal said that the government had not released any grant for the construction of a new building of the school.
