Leader of Opposition Sunil Jakhar has expressed deep gratitude to railway minister Pawan Kumar Bansal for approving construction of a rail link between Ferozepur and Amritsar via Patti in the rail budget on Tuesday.
This would further strengthen the security network of the nation besides enhancing trade and facilitating a better mean of transport to visit the greatest and pious Sikh pilgrimage i.e. Darbar Sahib.

He also applauded the pivotal role of AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi in the approval of above-said rail route. During a special meeting with Rahul, Jakhar had illustrated him the significance of rail route from the 'religious, trade and security' point of view following which, the former initiated personal efforts and got the same accorded in the rail budget.

It will not only connect Malwa with Mahja through rail, but entire Rajasthan, Gujarat and Jammu would be interconnected, which will enhance tourism and business potential besides addressing security concern of the area neighbouring Pakistan.

Jakhar said Bansal had presented a good budget while keeping in view interests of all sections of society. “It's a good gesture on part of the railway minister that he had initiated special steps to ensure safety of women in trains.”

The announcement to get survey done for double line between Bathinda and Sriganganagar via Abohar is also good news for locals as the same would give opportunity to run new trains in future, he added.
