Four thieves, who used to victimise unsuspecting passengers travelling on Metro trains, were arrested for their alleged involvement in separate cases reported from two separate Metro stations, the crime branch said on Tuesday.
In the first case, three men identified as Manjit, 22,
Ashok, 25, and Bharat, 22, all from Gurgaon, were arrested and a stolen laptop and mobile phones recovered from them, said SBS Tyagi, deputy commissioner of police (crime and railways).
"On January 4, one Ashish Kumar had reported that his bag containing a laptop, two mobile phones and some documents was stolen from the Old Delhi Railway Station," said DCP Tyagi.
Technical surveillance subsequently helped the police zero-in on Manjit and Ashok, who were both arrested. In the process, one of their juvenile associates was also identified and detained.
"While two of the stolen phones and the laptop were recovered from the duo's possession, Bharat was identified and arrested later," DCP Tyagi said.
Meanwhile, on February 21, police claimed, a burglary was reported from a footwear brand's showroom located near the Dilshad Garden Metro Station. The shutter of the showroom had been broken with an iron rod and cash amounting to Rs. 42,000 stolen.
"A team was constituted and one Anwar, a resident of Ghaziabad's Loni, was identified as the main accused. A raid was conducted and he was arrested subsequently. We recovered Rs. 20,000 from him," DCP Tyagi said.
