“I had been given only one vehicle. How can one minister use 72 vehicles?” asked Upadhyaya. He said the minister should provide the vehicle number to support his statement. At this point, chief minister Akhilesh Yadav rose from his seat saying the minister may provide the list of vehicles later “but I will first send you a list of vehicles allotted to the (then) chief minister.”
The chief minister intervened at another point during the question hour when a member wanted to know how long would it take to electrify villages for which he had given funds from the Vidhayak Nidhi. When Shivpal Singh Yadav, who was replying to question relating to the energy department, failed to satisfy the member, the chief minister rose from his seat and said the village electrification work would be completed early.
Rashtriya Lok Dal leader Dalbir Singh had earlier requested chief minister to follow tradition set by former chief minister and Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav of authorising all the legislators to recommend names of five villages for electrification. Other members also wanted that the CM to make such a gesture.
