When the house resumed, the opposition councillors asked for time, but the mayor did not allow them and stated that all agenda items, including house tax, approval of recruitment rules and regularisation of services of contractual employees and free parking stickers, were approved without any discussion and winded up the meeting.
On this the opposition raised slogans against the mayor and even sat outside his office. Later, they gheraoed the car of mayor, who was forced to leave in another car.
BJP-SAD councillor Malkiat Singh alleged, “We do not know how the Congress is playing with the sentiments of the common man, which is something uncalled for. Even the nominated councillors are hand in gloves with the Congress.”
