With the Amritsar central jail authorities stepping up vigil to check the use of mobile phones by inmates, another mobile and a SIM card was recovered from an inmate on Sunday. On the complaint of the jail authorities, the city police have registered a case against the accused, Rupinder Singh.

In another recovery, the jail staff seized 10 grams of smack from an inmate, Puran Singh. Puran, along with a visitor, Mohabbat Pal Singh, who reportedly handed over the drug to the inmate, have been booked under the NDPS Act.
