“After repeated representation to various authorities, the Public Works Department continued its work in the most brazen manner disregarding all civic and environmental norms. The residents were left with no choice as despite repeated assurances they broke down our colony grill in the middle of the night. The residents called the police and managed to stop the work,” said Mukul Chaturvedi, a resident of the area.
“The very next day they came again and demolished a portion of our grill. The residents again called the police and manage to stop the work. Having left with little choice, the residents then moved court,” she said.
However, the work continues unabated along the larger stretch. The citizens have filed right to information applications with the government to obtain a copy of the plan but are still waiting for a response.
“We wonder what is the tearing hurry. This road proposes to ease traffic congestion on the 3.5 km stretch from Chhatarpur Metro station towards Mahipalpur. It is going to be another Ring Road, facilitating traffic to the airport from Gurgaon, Faridabad and even Noida,” she said.
