An 11-year-old girl of Sham Churasi was sexually assaulted by an ex-serviceman and his employee on Tuesday. She was on his way back from school, when one, Gopi Chand, forcibly carried her to a flour mill, where the mill owner former hawaldar Amrik Singh , (60) and he tried to rape her. She was released on raising an alarm. Gopi Chand is a native of UP and is employed at the mill.

Bulhowal SHO Harneel Singh said that the girl did not tell her parents about the incident, but brought the matter to the notice of his class teacher on Wednesday.

On the complaint of girl's mother, a case under Section 376 D (sexual assault) and 511 of Criminal Law (amendment) Ordinance and Section 34 of IPC and also under the Prevention of Child Sexual Offences Act, was registered against the two accused, he added.

The mother has alleged that Amrik had been teasing her daughter in the past too.

The SHO said that Gopi had been arrested. SSP Sukhchain Singh Gill said that Amrik would also be arrested soon.
