Commenting on his experience, Gurpreet says, “It sucks to be cut; making it this far in the competition you can almost taste the prize. But it’s been a blessing, I would definitely thank God, I didn’t think I’d even make it past the first round.” A trained classical singer, Gurpreet caught the fancy of Idol judge Nicki Minaj early on in the competition. From teaching Ryan Seacrest to perform the traditional Punjabi bhangra dance to even singing a few Indian songs at Randy Jackson’s request, Gurpreet was one of the highlights of the show.
Remaining optimistic about his future, Gurpreet adds, “I want to thank my family, the Sikh community, my Twitter followers (#singhers) for all their advice and support. I’ll be back next year.”
