Pakistan is poised to go ahead and sign a gas pipeline agreement with Iran despite repeated US pressure not to do so.

On Friday, the US again warned Pakistan that if the deal is finalised for a proposed Iran-Pakistan pipeline, it would raise serious concerns under its Iran Sanctions Act.

However, President Zardari told reporters on Friday that Pakistan would go ahead with the plan and sign an agreement with Tehran on Monday.

Pakistan says it is compelled to go for the Iranian option because it has exhausted its own resources and also because America has denied it technology that it allowed India.
