Two Rajasthan BJP MPs, Arjun Ram Meghwal from Lok Sabha and VP Singh Badnor from Rajya Sabha also raised the issue at a press conference.
“These land deals show a new PPP model. It is P-4 which stands for Public Policy for Private Profit... This is not just a private dealing of a private individual,” BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said.
BJP MP Arjun Ram Meghwal alleged that while the Centre and Rajasthan government had decided to offer concessional land to 722 companies for solar panels to generate electricity in 2008, lands were bought by Vadra near grid stations at cheap rates.
“In 2010, the state government issued a notification to allow violation of the ceiling retrospectively to help the son-in-law,” Meghwal added.
The Congress however, rejected the BJP’s demand for a discussion on the issue in Parliament.
“We do not want to set a precedence, where we were to discuss in Parliament the issues concerning individuals across the country,” party spokesperson Renuka Chowdhary said.
