A Delhi court on Wednesday remanded an alleged Indian Mujahideen terrorist Obaid-ur-Rehman to seven days NIA custody, to investigate his role in the February 21 Hyderabad twin blasts.   
District judge I S Mehta in an in-camera hearing said the investigation agency is allowed to subject the accused to custodial interrogation in order to uncover the conspiracy behind the blasts, which killed 16 people. According to the NIA, Rehman was allegedly an important operative of the banned terrorist outfit. The investigation agency had brought Rehman from the Bangalore Central Jail where he was currently lodged, in NIA’s custody till March 20.

According to sources, the judge had also sent suspected IM operatives — Syed Maqbool, Imran Khan and Mohammad Aftab Alam — to judicial custody till March 23. The NIA had earlier questioned Maqbool and Imran and had taken them to Hyderabad in connection with the probe, as the investigators believed these jailed terrorists possess vital information regarding the bomb blasts.
