A local court on Thursday extended the police custody of one accused by two days, who was arrested in the murder case of advocate Amarpreet Singh, a resident of Phase 3A, SAS Nagar, after he objected to parking of vehicles outside his house.
Jaswinder Singh alias Khattu, son of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee member Ranjeet Singh, from Ludhiana, was produced before the court along with two other accused Sunbir Singh, son of Dalbir Singh one of the partners in Alpha Mall, Amritsar and his relative Omkar.

The court extended the police remand of Jaswinder Singh, by two days while the other two accused Sunbir and Omkar were sent to judicial custody.

On February 27, advocate Amarpreet Singh was shot dead outside his house after he had objected to parking of vehicles in front of the gate.

Amarpreet's cousin Gaganjot Sethi, son of former MC councillor Manjeet Singh Sethi, and his friend Simarjeet Singh, had sustained injuries in the firing.

Accused stayed in and around Chandigarh while hiding Deepak Kaushal, a second year law student who was arrested by the police from Panjab University's (PU) hostel number 2, where he was staying as guest before being arrested stayed in Bathinda as well as Zirakpur.
 
Sources revealed that Kaushal, after the firing in Phase 3A, fled from the spot in a car belonging to other accused Kevin Sushant alias Richi of Kharar. Sources add that while hiding he stayed at PU hostel as a guest and then stayed at his uncle's residence in Zirakpur and even went to Bathinda.

Kaushal had returned to PU again before being arrested in the wee hours of Wednesday.
