Datia police on Sunday arrested five persons who gangraped Swiss woman tourist. Police also recovered articles looted from the victim and her husband from the accused’s possession. The arrested include youths hailing from Kanjar tribe - Vishnu, Gaja alias Brijesh, Bhuta, Rampro and Baba, all aged between 20 and 23. Four of the accused allegedly committed the rape.

According to deputy inspector general of police Chambal range DK Arya, Vishnu Kanjar did not rape the Swiss woman but was a part of the seven members group which committed the crime.

Arya told the media persons that following an intense search operation launched by police the culprits were nabbed from different hideouts in the jungle terrains. Police investigation and case diary preparation including matching the blood samples, DNA test would be carried out as per the procedure.   

The 38-year-old Swiss tourist and her husband were touring the country on a bicycle and were on their way to Agra from Orchha when she was gangraped in the outskirts of Datia, about 75 kilometers from Gwalior, on Friday night. 

According to police sources, the victim and her husband safely reached Swiss Embassy in Delhi about 4 am on Sunday.

As per sources the rape victim wanted a thorough medical examination and quality treatment at the earliest in Delhi. She was also in touch with her insurance company while traveling to Delhi.
