A Delhi-based aircraft maintenance engineer of Jet Airways drowned in Rishikesh, when his raft capsized in the Ganga on Sunday.

Prashant Pandey, a resident of Rohini in Delhi, had boarded the raft from Kaudiyala to Tapovan along with six of his friends. Police have sent the body for post-mortem and informed his family. The incident took place near Byasi area.

The guides and rafting camp employees rescued seven others and rushed Prashant to a nearby government hospital.

But Prashant, 20, was declared brought dead by the doctors at the hospital. Byasi police station incharge HM Pokhriyal confirmed that Prashant died due to drowning.
