The Jat leaders slowed down the offensive against the government on Wednesday following 'offers' of talks.
The leaders here claimed that the government has invited them for talks. "We have decided not to burn effigies of chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda till our talks with them. We have called a meeting of all senior leaders on Thursday, which will decide about the nature of deliberations with the government," Mahender Punia, Haryana State Jat Aarakshan Samiti said.

The leaders claimed that the protests against the government have spread to 11 places in state. The protest is also continuing at Mayyar in Hisar. Four senior community members, who have been on indefinite hunger strike, are continuing with their agitation.

Meanwhile, the district administration has started issuing special backward class and economically backward class certificates to the deserving candidates. The special backward class category also includes jats, who are demanding inclusion of community in the OBC category. They claim the reservation given by the government would not be legally tenable.

However, deputy commissioner, Amit Agarwal said, "It is perfectly legal as of now. Let the courts decide about that. Government has already issued a notification to this effect."

Meanwhile, the city police have registered two cases against the protesting jat leaders for violations of Supreme Court guidelines. These cases have been registered for the two dharnas, in which National Highway-10 was blocked for hours on two days last week.
