An 18-year-old man was allegedly shot at by the personal security officer (PSO) of a Delhi-based businessman in southwest Delhi, the police said on Monday.

The police said the incident was reported from the Delhi Cantonment area around 10.30pm on Sunday evening and the accused PSO, later identified as one Somdev, 35, from Haryana was arrested.

“The firing took place on the Ring Road between Dhaula Kuan and Naraina when the victim, Vikas, a resident of west Delhi’s Uttam Nagar, was headed home with three of his friends on a bike and had a near collision with a car that Somdev and the businessman were aboard,” said an officer.

According to the police, the accused was accompanying his employer to his residence at northwest Delhi’s Pitampura when the incident occurred.

“The victim thought that Somdev was deliberately trying to brush against his motorcycle and flagged him down. When Somdev tried to avoid him, he was forced to halt and a heated argument ensued between them,” the officer said.

It was during the argument that Somdev allegedly opened fire and ended up hitting Vikas on his shoulder and wrist. He was rushed to a nearby hospital.

“We have registered a case of attempt to murder. Somdev was arrested from the spot,” the officer added.
