The ammunition belt was recovered from the house of Suresh Yadav, who was killed along with his brother Balipur village head Nanhe Yadav and deputy superintendent of police Zia-Ul Haque.
A CBI source said, “It is suspected that the ammunition belt was of the murdered police and was therefore hidden with great care.” He added, “We have also recovered a blood-stained wooden stick that was probably used to attack the DSP by locals incensed over the death of Nanhe Yadav, before the police officer was shot dead.”
The source said the CBI suspects that local policemen could have played a role in hiding the wooden stick and will soon question a few suspects for verification. The belt, the bullets and the stick have been sent for forensic examination.
