State Congress secretary Harjot Kamal secretary was one of the people who honoured the cricketer. “She is the pride of not only Moga district but also the entire country,” he said. “I hope that under her leadership, we win the next cricket series.”
“Only when I took congratulations over telephone did I come to know that she had been made skipper,” said Satwinder Kaur. “When my daughter scored an unbeaten 107 in 109 deliveries against England in the latest World Cup in Mumbai, I knew captaincy was a matter of time. It has come sooner than I expected.”
The skipper's father, Harmander Singh Bhullar, works in the local court. “Shortly after the family's coming to know over telephone that Harmanpreet now was India's captain, a throng of congratulators was at home and everybody wanted to see her.”
