Parveen Azad, the wife of slain deputy superintendent of police Zia-ul-Haque, visited Kunda (Pratapgarh) on Sunday and vowed to fight till justice was done in the brutal murder of her husband.
Her vow comes at a time when the CBI is continuing its probe into the killing of Haque, gram
pradhan Nanhe Yadav and his brother Suresh.
Escorted by security personnel, Azad, who was in Kunda for nearly three hours to collect her belongings from the house in which her husband had stayed during his stint as the circle officer, said the CBI had already questioned her in Lucknow.
Reposing full faith in the CBI probe, Azad said she was keenly monitoring its working in the case. “I will not tolerate any slackness in the investigation and could even resort to an agitation if there is any tardiness.”
She said her position as officer on special duty (OSD) would not come in the way of launching a stir for justice. She was appointed OSD (welfare) in Lucknow on compassionate grounds after her husband’s murder. Haque’s brother too got a police job and was posted in Gorakhpur.
The wife of the slain Dy SP had alleged the hand of former minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyya in the killing of her husband. The allegation led to Singh’s resignation from the Akhilesh Yadav government.
She hit out at the police for ‘cowardice and treachery’. She said cases should be registered against the constables, who were untraceable since the March 2 killings, for antinational activities.
Meanwhile, the CBI team again visited Balipur village where Haque and the two others were killed on March 2. Sources said that the probe agency had already made considerable progress and a breakthrough was likely soon.
The team quizzed Samajwadi Party MLC Akshay Pratap Singh, cousin of former minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyya on Saturday. On Sunday, the CBI summoned lawyer Hanuman Pandey and Hathigawan police inspector Nishikant Rai for interrogation.
Nanhe Yadav’s brother Pawan had lodged a complaint with the CBI against Raghuraj’s men, accusing them of threatening him. However, CBI sources said the complaint should be lodged with the appropriate authority.
Haque, who was posted as circle officer, Kunda, was shot dead when he had gone to control violence in Balipur village following the murder of village head Nanhe Yadav. Yadav’s brother was also killed in the violence.
The CBI has registered four cases in connection with the three murders in Balipur village and booked Raja Bhaiyya in one of them on the complaint of Azad.
