The annual mock drill is held to commemorate the victims of the Kangra Valley earthquake of 1905 in Himachal Pradesh that killed 20,000 people and destroyed most houses in Kangra, McLeodganj and Dharamshala.
Many schools across India and countries in South Asia have been participating in the annual drill since 2009.
The DAV Public School was evacuated in five and a half minutes with minimum panic. “When we did it for the first time in 2010, it took us 11 minutes to evacuate the building. Every year, we improve our record,” said principal Anita Makkar.
This year’s drill had three minor causalities which were treated by the first-aid team. Two boys got minor bruises and one girl suffered nose bleeding due to the heat.
Other Delhi schools which took part were the Blind Relief Association, Tibetan School and Saraswati Bal Vidya Mandir.
In Himachal Pradesh, 120 schools participated while one school in Myanmar, and two in Bhutan also participated.
