As per the case, Kokil was facing an inquiry after a bar in his jurisdiction was found to be open beyond the prescribed time limit.
As per the prosecution case Jain had demanded money to clear him from the inquiry. Kokil had filed a complaint with Anti- Corruption Bureau (ACB) after which the investigation began.
The police had first arrested Jain’s CA Lodha who in his statement revealed Jain’s involvement leading to the IPS officer's arrest in June 2000. After the court pronounced its judgment, Jain taken into custody.
While talking to media after the judgement Kokil said that he was thankful to the judicial system and also thanked the officers from the department who supported him against Jain.
