Additional DC (development) is nodal officer for the implementation of the project that is aimed also at improving the state of gardens in Patiala, especially the famous Baradari. For providing tourists with better stay, the tourism board plans to open online booking of rooms at Circuit House. In September, a heritage walk is planned.
The programme includes developing Rajindra Lake as tourism destination by spending Rs. 5 crore to build an environment park and modern walking zone around it. “Money is available with the state government and we'll submit all plans by April 23,” said the DC. The project includes the construction of a foot bridge from Thapar University to environment park and the protection of the forest outside the city.
Asian Development Bank (ADB) will finance the project that will be implemented under the observation of the union government. The bank has released money to develop similar infrastructure in Amritsar.
