A Class-10 boy of 14 was allegedly caught raping his cousin, 4, at her house where he had come to spend holidays after examinations.
On Tuesday, the police arrested the boy, who is from Bathinda and had come to his uncle’s place at a village in Sangrur district. His board examinations had got over a few days ago.

"The police registered the case on Monday night on the statement of the victim’s father," said deputy superintendent of police Sewa Singh said. "The boy who is accused is the son of the complainant’s sister."

On Monday, the victim’s mother had found the boy raping the child on the terrace of her house, said the police, adding that on spotting her aunt, he had fled.

The victim’s mother approached the police after the minor kept on complaining of pain in the lower abdomen on Monday night and examination at the local civil hospital confirmed that she had been raped.

The girl was discharged from hospital after treatment. The police registered a case under Section 376 (punishment for rape) of the India Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, against the boy and moved him to juvenile home after arrest.
