The Thane crime branch on Wednesday arrested a deputy municipal commissioner (DMC) with the Thane Municipal Corporation in connection with the Mumbra building collapse. Twenty-one persons, including another DMC, have already been arrested in the case. Shrikant Rajram Sarmok-adam, 57, had received bribe to allow construction of the building, police said. His name was found on the list of recipients of bribe in the builders' diary, a senior crime branch officer told HT.

On April 4, a seven-storeyed illegal building had collapsed at Shil-Phata killing 74 people and injuring 64 others.
