Raids were conducted at three shoe manufacturing factories and it resulted in the detention of five traffickers, the police said. According to Delhi government officials, the factories were sealed by the police later. The rescued children consisting of 17 boys and a girl were found working in deplorable conditions at the time of raid.
“In yet another incident of exploitation, these children were trafficked for forced labour. These rescued children, all between 11-15 years of age, revealed that they were made to work in deplorable conditions for 13 hours a day at a stretch for wages as little as Rs. 100 per week,” said R S Chaurasia, chairperson of BBA.
