Besides, cleaning, grading, drying, aeration and air tight storage, effect of various factors on storage of food grains, importance of moisture and temperature, and quality assurance to the consumers, would be the other thrust areas, he added.
Gill said the experts would educate the trainees about the handling of equipments used in modern grain storage and milling system, rice milling and quality control in modern rice mills; prevention of mycoflora and mycotoxins in food grains; and identification of insect pests of stored grains.
In addition, quality determination during storage of food grains; rodent pest management; safe use of pesticides in stored grains; symptoms of poisoning and antidotes; problems and management of pesticide residues in stored grains; bird management in grain storage facilities; and procurement policy of food grains would also be discussed during the course.
Gill said the trainees would visit modern grain storage and milling facilities. The registration for the course would be held on May 6 at 9:00 am at scheduled place, he added.
