Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee held a meeting at his residence in New Delhi on Thursday with senior party leaders to review BJP's impressive performance in assembly elections in three major states. Besides Vajpayee, the meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister LK Advani, BJP president M Venkaiah Naidu, General Secretary Pramod Mahajan and Union Law and Justice Minister Arun Jaitley.

Both Vajpayee and Naidu congratulated party workers for "victories" in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh and appreciated the efforts of Jaitley in Madhya Pradesh and of Mahajan in Rajasthan.

"The victories (sic) in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chattishgarh are an endorsement of NDA's policies by the people," Naidu told reporters after the meeting.

But replying to a query, Naidu ruled out mid-term Lok Sabha polls. "The issue of mid-term polls was not discussed (in the meeting) and there is no such proposal," he said.

Arun Jaitley also added that Lok Sabha polls would be held on schedule.
