With a strong performance in his debut film behind him, expectations are high from actor Arjun Kapoor’s second venture, Aurangzeb. And if director Atul Sabharwal is to be believed, Arjun has already outdone his debut act.

“He’s a gifted actor. He’s far more mature than his age. He’s serious about his work and likes to go into the depth of a scene. He has outdone his Ishaqzaade performance. I and YRF (Yash Raj Films, production house) are pleased with his performance. The investment that he put in and the output that came is commendable,” he says proudly about the actor.

The 35-year-old points out that he had noticed the talent in Arjun much before he became an actor. “I had found him very striking and stylish even when he was over-weight. He’s been around stars and star presence has rubbed off on him very well,” he says.

Although Atul is making his foray in Bollywood with this drama-action-thriller, he doesn’t feel like a newbie. All thanks to his experience on the small screen. “I did a TV show (Powder, 2010) with YRF which had 200 episodes. I never felt like a newcomer. I felt like I have already been around,” he says.

On being asked about the potential of the film to reach the coveted Rs. 100 crore club, he says: “I’m bit of a newcomer to understand that business. But I hope the film does well.” The film also stars Sashaa Agha and Rishi Kapoor in pivotal roles.
