The world celebrated Free Comic Book Weekend, last week. Not to be left behind, India too jumped on the bandwagon. Comic Con India (CCI) and readwhere.com, a free platform for publishers and readers, have come together to offer readers an opportunity to download comic books from the website free of cost.

“All the major comic book publishing houses were already there on the website. And considering that this is an annual event around the world, we wanted to create awareness about it among Indian readers.

This way, they too can participate,” says Jatin Varma, founder, CCI, adding that this will now be an annual event in the country as well.

As part of the deal, titles from Diamond Comics, Pop Culture Publishing, Campfire Graphic Novels, Level 10 Comics, Chariot Comics, Amar Chitra Katha and Sufi Comics are available for download, even now.

Readers can opt for any five titles. Popular comic books on offer include Tinkle Digests and Munkeeman. Varma adds, “Most of the titles are in English, but a few are available in Hindi as well.”
