With a view to strengthen the safety of women in Haryana and providing a deterrent to the eve-teasers, CCTV cameras would be installed at strategic points in all colleges and a round-the-clock helpline would shortly be started in the state, education minister Geeta Bhukkal, said in a release on Saturday.

Stating that sexual harassment committees would also be constituted which would have girls as representatives, she said that if a male teacher was found guilty in any such case, an immediate iquiry by the committee and penal action would be initiated against him.

Every institute or college would publicise these message by way of slogans and posters to spread awareness among the students, Bhukkal said and added that sensitisation lectures on crime against women and the penal action against those found guilty would be a regular feature.

Besides, counselling of all students would be done through social activities and principals would place suggestion boxes in their colleges where such complaints could be posted and they would monitor this on a regular basis, she added.
