Chamber for Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU) has welcomed the decision by state government by exempting obtaining of No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) for setting up new industrial unit.
Avtar Singh, general secretary, CICU, said that Micro Small Medium Enterprises (MSME) was one of the vital cogs in the state's wheels of progress and would be the mainstay of Punjab economy, only next to agriculture and contributing significantly to the state industrial production, employment and creation of entrepreneurial base towards generation of revenue and employment avenues.

He said that this sector however, is passing through a phase of low profits and exemption from NOC from the PPCB will create conducive environment for the growth and development of MSME sector in Punjab.

Singh said, “This gesture will also restore confidence amongst the industrial sector which is backbone of the state's economy. This step would go a long way in giving the MSME sector a great boost.”
