Dealers say the promise-propelled sales have jumped by 30% this month.
"Last month we sold 500 bikes but during mid of the result month (May), we have sold more than 500 bikes. We are expecting to sell over 650 more," says Somen Das, sales manager of a Bistupur showroom.
"I had promised my daughter if she got in the top-five slot in her school, I would buy her a smart phone. She has done well so I have to fulfil her wish," says Rajnish Kumar, resident of Sakchi.
A cellphone shopowner Sanju says, "Today teenagers are gizmo freaks. After results, students are coming with their parents for the phones. Most of the students prefer smartphones. We are giving special offers to those students who did extraordinarily in their exams."
Akhilesh Kumar, a salesman with a Scooty showroom, says, "They have sold more than 150 scooties and are expecting the sales to cross 200 this month. Last month, we sold only 120."
"My dad has promised me a Pulsar 220 if I score more than 80% in Class 12. I was quite confident about my marks so we booked the bike," says Aarav Sinha, resident of Sidhgora. Navdeep, Class 12 student is upbeat too. He says,"I love riding bikes. So this time, I have demanded one for myself. My parents have promised to buy me one if I clear the JAC 12 with flying colours."
