A 26-year-old woman fractured her arm and suffered abrasions after she was sexually harassed, robbed of her purse, and then pushed out of a moving auto-rickshaw by two men here, police said on Tuesday.
The accused are yet to be identified and the registration number of the auto-rickshaw that was noted down by the victim was found to be that of a motorcycle.

The incident took place on Monday evening when the victim had boarded the auto-rickshaw (PB-65R-1823) near the roundabout dividing sectors 36, 37, 41and 42 to go to SAS Nagar.

The woman alleged that as soon as she boarded the three-wheeler, the driver and his friend started touching her. When she shouted for help, the two allegedly gagged her, snatched her bag and pushed her out of the moving auto-rickshaw in Sector 40, injuring her.

Soon after, the woman phoned her father, following which she lodged a complaint at the Sector-39 police station. She was treated at Government Multi-Specialty Hospital in Sector 16.

Police now plan to question the auto-rickshaw drivers plying on the route to zero-in on the assaulters. Police have registered a case under sections 342,323,365,294,354-A, 120-B of the Indian Penal Code.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a woman has alleged that two men on a motorcycle (PB-06H-4608) outraged her modesty and threatened her in Sector 44 on Monday. The victim said was walking on the road when the boys passed lewd comments at her. Sector-34 police have registered a case under sections 354,509,506 of the Indian Penal Code.
