The Congress in West Bengal on Saturday attacked chief minister Mamata Banerjee on the implementation of the rural jobs programme, saying the state has turned out a poor performer despite tall claims of the state government.

“The state government kept on claiming that it is number one in creating jobs in 100 days work programme. It is absolutely wrong,” state Congress chief Pradip Bhattacharya said here.

Bhattacharya said according to a latest data published by the union government, West Bengal could generate only 24.44 days of employment under NREGS, while Mizoram created 87 days of employment under the 100-day work programme.
