“In the past few years, there has been a tendency for sluggish advance of monsoon over some parts of northern India. Latest available inputs indicate that this year, the monsoon will enter Uttar Pradesh in time during June 15 and 16. It is expected to arrive in Delhi before schedule,” said OP Singh, DDGM, regional meteorological centre, Delhi.
Delhiites woke up to a pleasant Thursday morning. It remained pleasant as a cool breeze blew throughout the day. The maximum temperature was recorded at 32.8 degrees, six degrees below normal for this time of the year. The minimum temperature was 28.8 degrees, a degree above normal.
“Though it rained negligibly, light showers are expected in the next couple of days,” a Met department official said. The maximum and minimum humidity was recorded at 78 per cent and 62 per cent, respectively.
The temperature on Friday is expected to hover between 35 and 30 degrees and the Met department has predicted a partly cloudy sky with light rainfall and thundershower.
