“Based on the girl's complaint, a case was registered at Powai, which was then later transferred to Parksite police station,’ said Suresh Sakpal, senior police inspector, Parksite police station.
According to the police, Pashi knew then victim as she and his daughter worked together in a firm.
Investigations revealed that Pashi's daughter had eloped a few days ago. He then started to accuse the victim of helping her and even threatened to file a complaint against her, the police said.
“On Thursday, Pashi told the girl that a police officer had summoned her. He then forced her into an autorickshaw from Parksite and took her to Powai garden, where he allegedly raped her. Hearing the girl's shout for help, the watchman rushed to the spot. He then informed the police,” said a police officer from Powai police station, on condition of anonymity as he is not authorised to speak to the media.
“When questioned, the victim told us about how Pashi was forcing himself on her and accordingly a case was registered,” the officer added.
The police have registered a case under section 376 (rape) and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012.
