UT police crime branch on Saturday questioned dismissed UT cop Basant Kumar alias Bunty about the persons who had helped him and Sarita escape from Chandigarh after the murder of inspector Sucha Singh.
The cops on Saturday took Basant to Kurali from where he and Sarita had boarded a bus for Ambala. Before going to Kurali, Basant and Sarita had hired an auto-rickshaw near the gurdwara on Siswan T-point, SAS Nagar, to reach Kurali.

A crime branch official said they were trying to trace the auto-rickshaw driver who had helped the couple escape. He added that they were also trying to ascertain if any Chandigarh Police cop had helped the two in their escape.

The police on Friday had recovered the blood-stained clothes of the accused and the knife in the inspector's murder. After the murder in the wee hours of June 8, Haryana Police had arrested Bunty and Sarita from a hotel in Paharganj, New Delhi, on June 9.

At present, the couple is in four-day police remand till June 17. City police had brought the duo from Sonepat to UT district courts on production warrant on Thursday.
