Ahead of the assembly elections, chief minister Sheila Dikshit on Saturday said her government will consider extending the retirement age of teachers serving in Delhi government schools from the current 62 years to 65years. She said the cabinet will discuss the issue this week.Dikshit made the remarks after demands were made that the retirement age of teachers serving in Delhigovernment schools should be raised.

“Master Bijender Singh said the age of retirement of teachers should be extended from 62 years to 65. We willdiscuss this issue in the cabinet and I believe that we will do it,” she saidwhile addressing a function here.The retirement age of teachers in Delhi was raised from 60 to 62 years in 2006.
