MPs Vyas and Ola are among the new faces in the council of ministers that came a day after another Rajasthan leader, CP Joshi, stepped down from Singh’s cabinet.
Joshi has been appointed general secretary incharge of the party in Bihar, Assam, West Bengal and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
Jhunjhunu MP and veteran Jat leader Ola is returning to the cabinet after four years — he was a minister in the Congress-led UPA’s first term. He takes charge of the labour and employment ministry.
After Ola did not find a place in the UPA-2 cabinet, he was appointed as deputy leader in Lok Sabha (2009).
On the other hand to ensure representation of Brahmin caste after Joshi’s exit and to retain the votes of the community, Chittorgarh MP Girija Vyas has been made the minister for housing and urban development and poverty alleviation. Joshi and Vyas are Lok Sabha MPs of constituencies in Mewar region.
