Pradeep Ghosh, Sajal’s father, alleged that on Saturday night when his son was returning from work he saw locals exchanging angry words with a biker who was drunk and was speeding. “My son tried to stop them but the biker, Ayush, abused my son and the latter slapped him,” Ghosh said. Ghosh said after he returned to his residence, a group of miscreants assembled before his house and started abusing his son and his family. Ghosh claimed that he tried resisting them and by this time his son returned and the miscreants started firing at him.
“They fired at least 10 to 12 rounds and my son had a narrow escape. Surprisingly, the police on hearing the sound did not come forward to help. After sometime, when they came, the common people asked the police why they were late,” Ghosh said. Ghosh said his son was attacked by another group of Trinamool activists.
At night, Sajal Ghosh lodged a complaint with the police station and Sanju Sau too lodged another complaint against Ghosh at Muchipara police station.
In another incident, in North 24-Parganas, CPI(M) activists blocked Jessore Road on Sunday morning in protest against Trinamool vandalism at Duttapukur. The CPI(M) alleged that Trinamool activists damaged a dais set up for a meeting. The Trinamool has, however, rubbished the claim.
