“The accused is not sorry for what he did. He had joined Chovisam Pizza only 20 days ago and was asked to deliver the order for the first time. Citing the nature of the crime he has committed and his reaction, we will ask the board to take strict measure to send across a strong signal,” said Vinayak Deshmukh, deputy commissioner of police (zone III).
The accused was hired for the eatery’s kitchen, but was sent to deliver the order at the last moment owing to staff crunch.
“The outlet owner gave the boy a bike to ride to the victim’s residence in Worli, despite knowing that he was a juvenile and did not have a driving licence. We will book the owner and the accused under the relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act,” added Mahadik.
The investigators lauded the woman for fighting back. Sudhir Mahadik, inspector of Worli police station, said, “The incident unfolded within 15 minutes. The victim tried her best to scare the accused because of which he just escaped with her gold chain and mobile phone.”
