An eight-year-old deaf and dumb boy lost his life after accidentally falling into an open drain in Old City on Thursday. The victim identified as Mohd Sadiq slipped into the drain which was around eight feet deep. Locals blamed Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) for negligence and staged protest. They said the LMC officials were requested several times to cover the drain or install some safetyguard to avoid such incidents, but no measures were taken. Samarbahadur Yadav, incharge of Saadatganj police station, said the incident took place when the boy had gone to a grocery shop and he was walking along the drain while returning home. He said, the roads had become slippery due to drizzle since morning. He said the boy apparently lost his balance and slipped into the open drain.
